Over the past year, Roost has evolved with the introduction of our Home Telematics Solution for Insurers. While our core product experience continues to focus on the home consumer, our go-to-market approach has evolved from pure retail to a growing list of Insurance company partnerships.
So what is Home Telematics? Simply put, it is the enabling of smart sensors in the home that identify and communicate real-time perils to the consumer for immediate mitigation. Two common examples are an early notification of a fire or a water leak via an alert on a homeowner’s smartphone when they’re away from home. Through this notification, a large disaster can be minimized for the homeowner, benefitting both the homeowner and the insurer. This is the type of smart home solution that we are delivering today.

Expanding relationships – Liberty Mutual and ASI join USAA as partners
Last year, we communicated that USAA was one of our early investors, and we continue to work very closely with this innovative partner. Today we are pleased to announce a new partnership with Liberty Mutual Insurance to offer consumers annual savings on their insurance policies to help cover the cost of Roost Smart Home technology. We are also excited to let you know that we have teamed up with ASI to inform policyholders about a fantastic discount on Roost Smart Batteries. For a limited time, Roost is offering significant savings to upgrade batteries in existing smoke alarms that will enhance peace-of-mind and safety in homes.

Home Telematics – product expansion
Almost a year ago, we started shipping our Roost 9V Smart Battery targeted at the retrofit market. We’ve continued to improve on our Smart Battery technology through a series of firmware updates and product refinements. We’re also pleased to provide an update on the status of some new products:
Later this month we will begin shipping our new Smart Smoke Alarms; the new RSA-400 and RSA-200, which deliver smoke, fire, CO and natural gas sensor solutions powered by the Roost Smart Battery. These alarms are available for pre-order at $79.99 and $59.99 for the next few weeks and then will be generally available.
We continue to excite the industry with the preview of our new Roost Smart Water Leak and Freeze Detector. Affordable, simple and based on the same core technology as our Smart Battery, we plan to launch this product near the end of this year. Stay tuned for more details.
