Armed Forces Insurance Joins Roost® Home Telematics Program
Smart Sensor Deployment to Drive Claims Mitigation and Digital Engagement
Sunnyvale, CA – March 5, 2019 – Roost, a leader in Home Telematics for property insurance carriers, today announced that Armed Forces Insurance has joined Roost’s Home Telematics Program (HTP). Working with Willis Towers Watson, CFM Insurance, State Auto Insurance, Country Financial and Encompass Insurance, the HTP is applying advanced analytics to gain impactful insights into the effect of home installation of Roost smart sensors on fire and water loss mitigation as well as customer engagement.
“We are very excited to have Armed Forces Insurance join the HTP and enjoy the shared benefits of this unique home telematics industry group,” said Roel Peeters, co-founder and CEO of Roost. “It is an honor to help Armed Forces Insurance serve their mission to ‘protect the property of those who protect our Nation’ through our smart sensor solution and to engage their members in a direct and meaningful way.”
As a member of the HTP, Armed Forces Insurance will deploy various kits of Roost Smart Sensors, including the Roost Smart 9V Battery (for smoke alarms) and the Roost Smart Water Leak and Freeze Detector to some of their policyholders. These innovative devices deliver notifications to customers’ smartphones through a custom branded white-label app when a suspected water leak or fire event occurs.
“We are thrilled to bring new innovations to our military community” said Kurt Seelbach, CEO of Armed Forces Insurance. “By participating in Roost’s Home Telematics Program we are developing an actuarial understanding of how smart home sensors impact loss costs as well as enhancing our members engagement. Protecting our members and their property has always been our top priority. Smart home technology is a critical step in achieving this goal.”
The award-winning Roost Smart 9V Battery is a simple retrofit solution that transforms existing smoke alarms into smart alarms. If the alarm sounds and no one is home, a smartphone notification is delivered. The Roost Smart Water Leak and Freeze Detector is designed to sense water leaks as well as humidity and freezing temperature situations. Each detector can be easily located in places around the home most prone to water leaks such as under kitchen sinks, hot water heaters, toilets and various appliances. It then delivers smartphone alerts via the Roost app to help minimize water damage and loss. These Wi-Fi-enabled smart sensors don’t require a hub and set up in less than five minutes.
Roost’s Home Telematics solutions are changing the way insurers engage with their policyholders, mitigate fire & water claims and drive new business growth.
